Rather than constructing everything on-site, the panelization process involves pre-manufacturing large building components in a climate controlled indoor shop facility. Our panelized approach allows us to build our airtight, superinsulated shell more precisely and gives us a greater degree of control over critical detailing and the project schedule.
Here’s what we like about panelized construction:
The Manufacturing Process:
Floor, wall and roof panels up to 12 feet long are built indoors in climate-controlled conditions
The shop team uses waist-high movable platforms for better ergonomics and efficiency
Every panel is designed using 3D computer modeling for precise specifications
Great material efficiency. Our waste factor is next to nothing
Panel Construction:
Double stud wall panels have an R-44 thermal value and incorporate a thick exterior layer of wood fiber insulation to eliminate thermal bridging
Plywood sheathing doubles as the air barrier and is located in the middle of the wall panel where it is protected from moisture and damage
Roof panels include vented sheathing for maximum durability, and are also insulated with R-63 carbon-storing wood fiber insulation
On-Site Assembly:
Panels are delivered to a pre-prepared foundation
Crane-lifted into position
Final roofing and siding are installed on-site
Guaranteed air-sealing that meets Passive House standards
Weather-tight building shell completed in under two weeks
