Facts About Panelization

Rather than constructing everything on-site, the panelization process involves pre-manufacturing large building components in a climate controlled indoor shop facility. Our panelized approach allows us to build our airtight, superinsulated shell more precisely and gives us a greater degree of control over critical detailing and the project schedule.

Here’s what we like about panelized construction:

The Manufacturing Process:

  • Floor, wall and roof panels up to 12 feet long are built indoors in climate-controlled conditions

  • The shop team uses waist-high movable platforms for better ergonomics and efficiency

  • Every panel is designed using 3D computer modeling for precise specifications

  • Great material efficiency.  Our waste factor is next to nothing

Panel Construction:

  • Double stud wall panels have an R-44 thermal value and incorporate a thick exterior layer of wood fiber insulation to eliminate thermal bridging

  • Plywood sheathing doubles as the air barrier and is located in the middle of the wall panel where it is protected from moisture and damage

  • Roof panels include vented sheathing for maximum durability, and are also insulated with R-63 carbon-storing wood fiber insulation

On-Site Assembly:

  • Panels are delivered to a pre-prepared foundation

  • Crane-lifted into position

  • Final roofing and siding are installed on-site

  • Guaranteed air-sealing that meets Passive House standards

  • Weather-tight building shell completed in under two weeks
