Permanent Wood Foundations: A Faster, Greener Building Option
We build our home foundations the same way we build our houses - using pre-designed, pre-engineered wooden panels. Permanent Wood Foundations offer an eco-friendly alternative that speeds up construction.
These below-ground walls are made from pressure treated wood and plywood that resist decay. They're a valid alternative to traditional concrete foundations and are recognized in building codes (Section R402.1 of the International Residential Code).
A Brushwood frost wall foundation can be installed in a morning, compared to 3-4 days for concrete foundations which require setting up forms, pouring concrete, and waiting for it to cure. If you're planning a finished basement, the permanent wood foundation saves you two days of interior finishing work.
The system includes a 12-inch deep gravel bed beneath the walls and special dimpled sheeting on the walls. This creates a path for water to flow down into the gravel and into drains. These drains remove water from around the footings and prevent pressure against the walls, keeping your basement reliably dry and comfortable.
